Ideas for a micro wedding or elopement in a Parisian apartment – opinion from a wedding videographer in France

2020, a lot of couples were forced to postpone their weddings, and some even got hesitant in getting married. But as human beings have the capacity to adapt to any situation – million years of history proved this statement – human beings also have the capacity to adapt their wedding to any situation. Despite wedding venues being forced to either close completely or just their reception, there are other ways to get married. You can opt for a micro wedding or an elopement. Check the photos and video at the end of this article to see the creation from a destination wedding videographer in France, a photographer, a wedding designer, a florist, a make-up artist and a cake designer. This editorial is meant to show how we can adapt a micro wedding or elopement in an apartment in Paris - France. And it was featured on weddingsparrow :-P

If you live in a big city, you were probably stuck in your apartment during quarantine. At that moment, everyone realized how simply having a coffee with friends was a privilege, and how family gatherings were a gift and how simply going outside was a pleasure. A lot of Parisian even suddenly became joggers once they learned that jogging was one of the reasons you would be allowed to go out. But for the majority of people, we all understood the importance of staying in in order to protect ourselves and others.

Covid not only had an impact on our leisure but also on ALL weddings. As day passed, more and more weddings in France and around the world got pushed back to 2021. In our team of destination wedding videographer in France, we saw 95% of our bookings postponed to 2021.

For wedding cinematographers like us, the frustration for not being on a wedding and the desire for creativity amplified more and more. It was like the thirst for water when you walk hours/ days in a desert…A feeling that was shared by Jiyoung from Modernbride Paris, Estelle from MadameWedding Design, Akiko from Floraison, Celine from Celine Chhuon photography and Bouchra from Bouchra sugar designer.

It was during discussions between those  professionals about the current situation that came up the idea of a “confined micro wedding” later called Floral Garden Elopement.

But what are micro weddings or elopements?

A micro wedding is a wedding with less than 50 guests.  An elopement is a wedding with no guests or only the witnesses. These are alternative to traditional weddings.

The following project is an inspirational editorial about a couple being stuck inside a Parisian apartment, wanting to get a fresh breeze of air, inviting nature into their micro wedding or elopement, proving to the world that their love could not be confined within those walls.

Madame Wedding Design and Floraison came up with the design, colors, theme etc, that would go well with the apartment’s walls; a design that requested a lot of flowers and greenery to convey oxygen and freedom. Bouchra matched her cake with the latter; giving her cake a marble aspect to mimic the walls, and with sugar flowers. ModernbrideParis opted for finesse in her makeup, giving a luminous fresh natural look to the model.

And to document all of this, Celine Chhuon and our team, 3 Petits Points, worked side by side to capture the elegant and delicate scenes in a manner that would make the viewers almost forget about the walls.

This inspirational wedding was featured on the famous wedding blog weddingsparrow but you can also watch the video and some pictures at the end of the article

Note from wedding planner, Madame Wedding Design: "This shooting tells the story of Parisian dreams, confined dreams. I wanted to revisit this breath of fresh air that we all sought during this period. How to celebrate love in a different way, how to invite the earth inside, how to invite the world?

The story revolves around 3 scenographies and will highlight a couple whose beauty and spirit rhymes with our inclusive vision. How to re-invite the micro weddings, how to continue celebrating love. This editorial is a message of hope to soulmates, to young lovers. All will always be possible for love, your love."
